PTE Listening Write From Dictation: 50 câu thử thách thí sinh

PTE Write From Dictation (WFD) là phần thi cuối cùng của kỹ năng Listening, cũng là phần thi kết thúc toàn bộ bài thi PTE. Do đó, nhiều thí sinh sẽ cảm thấy mệt mỏi hoặc thậm chí không đủ thời gian để làm phần thi này.

Tuy nhiên, đây lại là một phần thi vô cùng quan trọng, chiếm đến 30% tổng số điểm cho cả 2 kỹ năng Listening và Writing. Nên là nếu không thực hiện tốt phần thi này, khả năng cao là bạn sẽ phải thi lại ít nhất một lần nữa để đạt target mình mong muốn!

Trong phần thi này, thí sinh sẽ nghe một câu văn ngắn (khoảng 3-5 giây) và viết đáp án mình nghe được vào ô trả lời ở bên dưới (có thể đồng thời take note trong lúc nghe). Phần thi này sẽ bao gồm 3 đến 4 câu hỏi.

Cách tính điểm cho phần thi PTE Listening Write From Dictation

Như đề cập ở trên, phần thi này chiếm một số điểm rất cao cho cả 2 kỹ năng Listening và Writing.

Thí sinh sẽ được 1 điểm cho mỗi từ viết đúng chính tả và không bị trừ điểm với từ sai. Nhưng bạn sẽ chỉ được tính điểm nếu viết hoa chữ cái đầu tiên của câu và kết thúc bằng dấu chấm.

Ví dụ:

Đề bài gồm 10 từ:

University departments carefully monitor articles and other publications by faculty.

Và đáp án của bạn là:

University departments monitor articles and other public by faculty.

=> Bạn sẽ được 8/10 điểm (thiếu từ “carefully” và viết không chính xác “publicity”).

Nhưng nếu câu trả lời của bạn là:

University departments carefully monitor articles and other publications by faculty

Hoặc:

university departments carefully monitor articles and other publications by faculty.

=> Bạn sẽ không được điểm (thiếu dấu chấm câu hoặc không viết hoa đầu câu).

Những khó khăn thường gặp trong phần thi PTE Listening Write From Dictation

Câu hỏi quá dài

Trung bình các câu WFD chỉ có từ 6-8 từ trong mỗi câu. Tuy nhiên, hầu hết mọi người sẽ gặp khó khăn với các câu hỏi có nhiều hơn số lượng từ đó khi các bạn cố gắng nghe và viết đồng thời.

Điều này khá dễ hiểu vì phần thi WFD đòi hỏi việc sử dụng “working memory”. Đây chính là khả năng ghi nhớ thông tin tạm thời của não bộ (theo Wikipedia). Một số nghiên cứu đã chỉ ra rằng hầu hết mọi người có thể lưu trữ 5-9 đơn vị thông tin, và đó là lý do tại sao chúng ta có thể áp dụng lý thuyết này cho WFD và chia nhỏ câu thành 5-7 đơn vị để ghi nhớ thông tin tốt hơn.

Các câu hỏi với từ vựng lạ hoặc ngữ pháp phức tạp

Hãy nhớ rằng chúng ta chỉ có thể nhận được điểm cho mỗi từ được viết đúng chính tả, vì vậy nếu bạn không thể nhớ các từ được đánh vần như thế nào? Bạn có thể mất điểm đó. Cố gắng sử dụng một số công cụ học tập như Quizlet để hỗ trợ quá trình mở rộng vốn từ vựng của bạn một cách chính xác.

Ví dụ: Observers waited nervously and with bated breath for the concert. (WFD – PTE.Tools 61)

Nhiều bạn sẽ không quen thuộc với cụm collocation “with bated breath” (một cách hào hứng hoặc lo lắng – dịch bởi từ điển Cambridge), do đó thường có thói quen bỏ qua trong câu trả lời. Trong trường hợp này, bạn chỉ có thể đạt tối đa 7/10 cho câu trả lời này.

Tốc độ đọc

Nhiều thí sinh không theo kịp vì tốc độ audio quá nhanh hoặc bạn không quen với giọng đọc (accent) trong audio.
